Fruit of the Spirit
Throughout time and especially in this day and age, Christians have been encouraged to focus their energies and lives in a matter that may be contrary to that of the world. God has provided us with concrete instructions as to how we ought to live our lives. The “Fruit of the Spirit” are nine tremendous attributes of Christian life. Those attributes are highlighted below.
"But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness, 23 Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence). Against such things there is no law [that can bring a charge]." —Galatians 5:22-23 (Amp)
Love: "And we know (understand, recognize, are conscious of, by observation and by experience) and believe (adhere to and put faith in and rely on) the love God cherishes for us. God is love, and he who dwells and continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and continues in him." —1 John 4:16 (AMP).
Joy: "Without having seen Him, you love Him; though you do not [even] now see Him, you believe in Him and exult and thrill with inexpressible and glorious (triumphant, heavenly) joy. 9 [At the same time] you receive the result (outcome, consummation) of your faith, the salvation of your souls." —1 Peter 1:8-9 (AMP).
Peace: "Therefore, since we are justified (acquitted, declared righteous, and given a right standing with God) through faith, let us [grasp the fact that we] have [the peace of reconciliation to hold and to [enjoy] peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One)." —Romans 5:1 (Amp).
Patience: "And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all." —1 Thessalonians 5:14 (ESV).
Kindness: “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” —Ephesians 4:32 (ESV).
Goodness: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” —Romans 8:28 (ESV).
Faithfulness: “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.” —Hebrews 10:23 (ESV).
Gentleness: “Let your gentleness show in your treatment of all people. The Lord is near.” —Philippians 4:5 (CEB).
Self-control: “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” — 2 Timothy 1:7 (ESV)
